The F430 Spider shares many features with its predecessor, the 360 Modena, such as an extruded aluminum space frame, suspension, interior layout, and longitudinal V-8 configuration. Rather than being a replacement, the F430 is seen as an evolution of the 360. Internally, the 360 was known as the F131 and approximately 10,000 were produced. With 70% new parts and a slight price increase, the F430 is commonly referred to as the F131 Evoluzione or "the Evo" by Ferrari engineers.
