The new W221 model was first unveiled at the 2005 Frankfurt International Motor Show and officially released for sale later that same year - this example is the face lifted W221, which was updated around 2009.

This version showcased significant design changes, with larger dimensions and three new engine options with a remarkable 26% increase in power over the previous model

The interior has been completely redesigned and upgraded while the traditional centre console transmission gear lever has been replaced with a column-mounted shifter. Technological advancements on the W221 include an infrared Night View Assist feature and the latest Mercedes-Benz pre-collision system.  The later W221's came with wider fender arcs to make it appear more aggressive, and the W221 is only available in a sedan body style, making it the second consecutive generation of the S-Class to adopt this design.
