Description
Despite being 20 years old, the '98 R1 retains a modern aesthetic and does not resemble a classic bike just yet. Although some angles may make it appear slightly bulky, it maintains an aggressive stance and would not look out of place among newer sports bikes at a track day or biker's café. As Honda FireBlade designer Tadao Baba emphasized, "light is right" when it comes to achieving optimal performance on a sports bike, making minimal mass just as crucial as pure power. This mantra was adopted by Yamaha for their big-bore sports bike, the YZF-R1, which was launched just before the Kawasaki ZX-9R C1 in late '97.
This is a two-owner bike from new, with Modern Classic Collective knowing both owners from new.
