This 12,270 km Beetle has genuine mileage, with a known ownership history and a unique story behind its low distance. Back in the 70s, a family in Klerksdorp had a conservative husband who didn’t want his wife driving, believing it was his role to handle such things. Frustrated by this, the wife began secretly saving money and taking driving lessons during the day while her husband was at work.

After about a year, she bought this Beetle but couldn’t keep it at home, so she stored it at a friend’s house. During the day, she would walk over, take the car out for a drive, and return it before her husband came home. This went on for a few months until one day, he spotted her driving. He forced her to sell the car, but luckily the buyer kept it for several years before selling it to the current owner, from whom we acquired it.

Seeing it in person, you’ll appreciate how neat and original it is. Apart from a light respray to address sun damage (retaining the factory color) and the addition of a roof rack to match the interior, it remains completely original.
